“I was motivated to write ‘The New Cotton’ by the need to provoke heartfelt discussion about the state of justice in America . To create dialog about where we have come from, where we are, and where we are going. And finally, I want to send a wake up call to other young black males. To show them the real purpose of the criminal justice system and to convince them that we can and must do better.”
